Question: You are running in a 400 meter race and you overtake the last person, what place are you now in?

Answer: This cannot happen. You cannot overtake the person who is in last place, as there is no-one behind them!

One possibility is that you are at the finish line, and the person in last hasn't left the starting block, seeing as the 400 meter is a full lap. You have lapped the last placed person.
