This riddle doesn't belong on goodriddlesnow.com. It has been tarnished through the ages and has far too many "correct" answers, such as, "to escape Colonel Sanders".

You are really asking two questions here, and the answer to the second is, "Yes, the chicken did cross the road." The first is a question that has addled philosophers for millennia and has only produced a few incomplete answers like, "Why not?"
