Question: I'm teary-eyed but never cry.
Silver-tongued, but never lie.
Double-winged, but never fly.
Air-cooled, but never dry.

What am I?

Answer: Mercury. The element looks shiny, silver, and is wet. The god Mercury has two wings but only uses them to run.

The part about the god is wrong. He had a pair of sandals which were winged, two or four wings already depending on if the sandals had one or two wings each, and he had a winged helmet, another two wings bringing the total to 4 or 6 which is quadruple- or sextuple- winged. He was also able to fly thanks to them.
