Question: Sum Sam and Product Pete are in class when their teacher gives Sam the Sum of two numbers and Pete the product of the same two numbers (these numbers are greater than or equal to 2). They must figure out the two numbers.

Sam: I don't know what the numbers are Pete.
Pete: I knew you didn't know the numbers... But neither do I.
Sam: In that case, I do know the numbers.

What are the numbers?


Question: You are driving and come to a fork in the road. You need to get to New York City. The roads do not have signs, no one is there to tell you which road you need to take, and you can't turn back and take the other road if you take the wrong one the first time. You can not turn around a go a different way. If you randomly choose a road to take how will you know you are choosing the correct road before you take it? What is the chance you will take the correct road?

Question: A photojournalist entered a dangerous cave to take some pictures. Suddenly the cave starting shaking. The journalist had to run out but forgot which way he got inside. There are 4 tunnels leading him outside. Tunnel 1: Poisonous bats that will kill you immediately. Tunnel 2: Heat from underground that will burn anyone. Tunnel 3: Toxic gas that will kill any kind of animal. Tunnel 4: Radioactive plants that will destroy you in one touch. Which way is safe?

Question: A young man walks through the forest. He comes to a bridge. In front of the bridge is a large man carrying an axe. The man says, "If you want to cross this bridge, you must tell me a statement. If I think the statement is true, you will be strangled to death. If I say the statement is false, your head will be chopped off." A few minutes later, the young man walked over the bridge, while the larger man stood pondering. What was the statement the young man had given?

Question: You have two coconuts and you want to find out how high they can be dropped from a 100 story building before they break. But you only have $1.40 and the elevator costs a dime each time you ride it up (it's free for rides down).

How can you drop the coconuts to guarantee you will find the lowest floor they will break at, while starting and ending at floor 1?

Note: They break when dropped from the same height and they don't weaken from getting dropped.
