Question: You are in a locked room with a burger and a bucket of water. There are 3 doors out to freedom. Door 1: A fire that will burn you to death Door 2: A murdererer with a gun. Door 3: Hungry crocodiles that will eat you. Which door would you choose?

Answer: Open door 3 and distract the crocodiles with your burger. Then fill the bucket up with water and burn the fire out.

Question: A knight comes to a castle where his love is trapped. The castle is surrounded by a square moat that is 10 feet wide (it forms a square around the castle). The knight is able to fashion two 9 foot long planks to cross the moat.

How can he do this?

Answer: He puts one plank across the corner of the square (where two sides meet) and puts the other perpendicular to it to form a 'T' shape in the corner allowing him to cross the moat and save his beloved.

Question: Queens can move horizontally, vertically and diagonally any number of spaces as illustrated. One piece 'attacks' another if it moves to the same tile that the other piece is on. How can you arrange eight queens on the board so they cannot attack each other?

Hint: Four must go on black and four on white.

Answer: Here are the two solutions. This is usually solved with guess and check although using logic may be faster. We know that each queen must be in it's own row vertically and horizontally. We also know that 4 of the queens must be on white and 4 on black. This is true because with 4 queens on the same color all of the rest of that color is venerable to attack. (It could be done with math).

Question: Two men find an old gold coin and want to have a coin toss with it to decide who gets it. The only problem is the coin is heavier on one side so it comes up heads more than tails. What is a fair way for the men to toss the coin and decide who gets the coin?

Answer: They just have to flip it twice. They call the first toss either heads or tails, then the next toss they automatically pick the opposite (ie if one man calls heads on the first flip, he automatically picks tails on the second and vice versa). If they both win one toss (a tie) out of the two, they just have to repeat until one of them wins both tosses.

Question: I am two five letter names 500 is at the start, 10 is in my heart. In the middle of that is 1, Near the end is none. At the end is 14, Yet that is not all that has been seen. It's a word that rhymes with liver, Yes, to the left of that is river.

Answer: River Dixon. We know his name is river, so 500 being D in Roman numerals, 10 being X, 1 being I, and an is the fourteenth letter of the alphabet. D at the start, X in the middle, in the middle of those two is I, so that spells DIX, near the end is none/0, which is like an O so that's DIXON. Then to the left of that is River so, RIVER DIXON.
